sensor wiring harness ?
I have been working on a '87 944 S. I was not the person who took this thing apart, but the engine has been replaced/rebuilt and I am in the final stages of completeing wiring hookups and vacuum lines etc. There was a significant amount of damage to electrical connections due to HEAT all of these have been replaced where neccessary.
Ok here's my question there is a sensor on the driver's side of the engine block presumably the timing mark sensor or speed sensor(?) it hooks into a bracket is round and has three prongs. Well I have no where to put it it doesnt plug into the wiring harness as far as I can see. It is possible the previous mechanic replaced it with the wrong size connection(?). Anyway if you know where this thing is supposed to go or have some idea what might be wrong with this setup please let me know. Also the factory repair manual has not been any help in this matter. Im absolutely stumped. |

The double overhead cam model 944S has one sensor for the speed and reference. The extra sensors on the post 85.5 model change over is for factory and dealer use. There is no harness connection for it.

Ok thank you that makes sense, and explains a couple of things. You mention extra sensor(s), are there more sensors that I can ignore other than the duplicate speed/position sensor? I have been hesitant to install the intake manifold until I am certain the harness is correctly positioned.
