Post What Transmission, Help

My car is a 1984 944, I need a five speed transmission, but I don't know what years would fit mine. Can anyone tell me Please?

same tranny up through '87 (except for turbo):

if you want to go like 180 mph, put in a 951 tranny. :-)

Hi Crazy well the trans es will all bolt up BUT there are some differences, one is the speedo drive I think from 85.5 N later it has a electrical drive so now it depends on what year you have up to 85.5 there is a cable from the LF wheel to drive the speedo
so if you dont need a speedo drive from the trans then you have more options also the final drive in from a turbo trans is different so this will change your gearing..also a 86 and newer trans from 951 will have an oil cooler attached altho it was an option from 87 on on the 951..
I would look for a lo milage unit that is made for your year, try to find out if the carrier bearings have been replaced and all the seals and all the syncros, if your getting a rebuilt unit.....Stan

you do NOT want a 951 transmission. it would make your car a dog. try calling oklahoma foreign, we have used them many times very succesfully for engines and transmissions. where are you located? if near Virginia we can fix yours for you or do the swap.

I (as always) would be insterested in a transaxle with lsd.

Say Carter, if I brought you my transaxle, how much could you rebuild it for? How'bout turnaround time. Currently I don't have an lsd transaxle, how much would it cost to put one in there, while rebuilding?

Thumbs up

Haha, pretty much though it's not a 100% way to tell.

(Jack up the rear end, in gear spin one of the wheels one way, if the other spins the same direction, you have lsd, if it spins the other way, you have an open diff.)
