Question Largest rim/tire?

What is the largest rim/tire that can fit a stock 944 Turbo, front and rear?

Thanks...

I have 16in rims with 225/50/16's on them. I've heard people are putting 17in rims w/ a 40 series tire. I think there's a few people here on this bbs that are running 17's.

i had 17x9's in rear running 255/40 and there was a rubbing problem on driver's side tire under hard acceleration or going over dips.

others here have used larger wheels than me with apparently no trouble, so maybe rolling the fenders was their solution.

Maybe if you used a thinner tire like a 245 or 235.

If you get rims, buy 16's. They look the same, the tire prices won't kill you. And there's a LOT smaller chance of bending the rims over potholes, bumps, etc.

BTW: I run the 17inch technology rims, and I've had them a few months, and I already bent three of them(i wasn't even trying), so now from 30-90 mph I feel a REALLY nasty vibration! And the cheapest prices I've found to unbend them is about 200, almost what I paid for them!!!

BTW: a 245 is fine, I have no signs of any kind of rubbing.

I got them for about 250. Brand new, but with no warranty, which would REALLY help right now. One of my friends helped me out, and found like an outlet for the rims from the manufacturer(ats, the same as the cookies, and the dealer ones).

Unhappy

And more bad luck happened thursday, as my car was parked in front of my friends house, when the car started spewing antifreeze. All I know is that the damn electric fan won't kick in, and that I'm swamped with a bunch of housework before I get a good, long chance to look at it, the only good news is that my brother is coming over, and he's a much better mechanic than I.
So I think I'm going to go mad, and while I'm at it I'm going to change my screen name to "the most unreliable 944 out there"

BTW: I NEVER thought the 944 was ever reliable, and didn't expect it to be because it's a porsche, until I hear of the ridiculously low maintenence costs of some of the people on this board(and i'm REALLY jealous).

10" wide wheels will fit in the rear with 275-40-17 Hoosier R3S03 tires IF you use the correct offset (which I think is 56mm)

Up front I have fit 9" wide wheels with 275-40-17 BFG G-Force tires (which are narrow)otherwise 255-40-17 is all it will take without rubbing problem. Anyway you are looking for the same offset around 56mm.

hey Shaun,
I meant 250 for each wheel. Sorry, the head isn't working right today.

Talking

Cool, thanks for the responses. I meant to ask what is the widest tire. It was 5AM when I posted...I was tired! Though, Pilot_951S answered that one.
