pulling engine block out

86 944 engine.

I have the head off, and I need to pull the block out to remove a broken timing stud. The front half looks easy enough, but I've never been into the torque tube setup. Is that just splined so it will slide right out after I unbolt the bell housing?

Any recommendations out there for this procedure? You guys helped alot on the head removal.

Thanks for the help!

You can work thorugh that starter access hole and remove the clutch to flywheel bolts then seperate the bell housing from the block and lift it out.

If you search the archives there was a thread a while back on which was easier, pulling from the top, or dropping out the bottom. The thread goes into great detail on how to pull the motor from the top.
