Post If you have an '83 944, come in here...

Hey guys, I'm just curious to know when your '83 944 was made and what color it is.

Mine was born in 5/82 and its metalic light blue.

There should be a plate under the hood. It will have a month/year type thing.

thanks for offering to mount my tires, but i'm near buffalo n.y. what type of tire shop do you work at? i was told by a few places that you need a special machine to mount a 911 tire because of the thin lip on the wheel and the low profile of the tire? did you ever mount a tire on a 911
16 inch wheels
205/55/vr16 on front
225/50/vr16 on back

p.s. i notice you are from PA, i bought my car from a guy in bethlehem PA it was about a 10-11hour drive.
thanks

I work in one of a small chain that does Tire and light automotive work. When people come in that appriciate Porsches(which is hardly ever) its great to talk to them, because I'm working with guys that are all about going fast in a straight line. They just don't get it.

Yeah, I mounted tires for two different 911's, an '88 and I'm not sure of the other one. I never jacked one up yet, and when I do, I'm hoping the owner is standing there to show me what to do. We have a machine that can mount them. The size of your tires won't be hard at all. Its when you get into the 18 inch wheels and 35 series profile. Thats when they get tough.

I am about 45 minutes north of the maryland/pa border, so it would be quite a journey just to save a few bucks.
