Wink Sat in a 2001 carerra today and guess what

I was at the dealer today and sat in a 2001 carerra that was in the showroom.

I was amazed at how much the interior space reminded me of my 944. Yes the C smells better and has lots of leather...but the layout and feel is remarkable close right down to the way the hood appears in front of the steering wheel.

I guess they finally realized that they got it right in 83 and have gone back to the best design.

On the topic of "smell" do you find that your 944 gets worse every year? Letely I have found myself spraying "Fabreeze" under the seats to get the musty smell out.

In fact the My RS America is starting to get a bit musty as well....Must be a Porsche thing.

Those commercials crack me up..... it always shows a guy spraying it on things that maybe should be thrown in the wash....

Take used dryer sheets and leave 'em on the floor behind the seats for a few days.

"Whats next Fabreeze Personal spray?"

Actually, in college I knew quite a few guys that would just spray their clothes with Fabreeze instead of washing them. Gross? Sure. Inventive? You bet.

Those carpet cleaning machines are great - the ones that work like a vacuum cleaner. You spray hot water/detergent on and then vacuum it out. You can hire them for cleaning carpets / sofas etc but they work on car seats and carpets just as well.

The best bit is that all the dirty waters collected in a tank and its amazing what comes out.

The one I hired looked like this :

http://www.lloyd-jones.com/store/cleaning/puzzi100.htm

I'd say only do it on a hot day though or it takes a long time for the carpets and seats to dry out. I took mine on a good drive with the heater on full blast.

Thank you Mark,I will try it if a found that machine,or something similar....I wonder why the original owner spent more than 60.000$ in that car and didn´t buy it with leather...
