power seats
So I picked up some seats at a swap meet on Friday... they are black vinyl seats, supposedly from a 944, and *both* the driver's and passenger's seat have the power tilt adjustment for the bottom cushion. I needed to make some repairs to my driver's seat so this is good. My passenger seat does not have any power adjustment for the tilt. Do you think it would be worth it to swap in? (I never sit over there, so I can't make any recommendations on comfort.) Are the seat *backs* easily interchangeable? I don't want to get into swapping any more covers than I have to (these are in "OK" shape while the ones in the car have fresh Rennbay covers on them.)
As an aside, these look silly easy to swap into another type of vehicle; if I weren't going for a "vintage" look with my '55 Stude I'd be tempted to have them recovered and put them in there. They'd be darn near perfect in an Avanti, and stock Avanti seats suck... thanks, nate

Two bolts on each side and the fold wire on each side is all to seperate the top from the bottom. I would just swap the seat it self with the electric one, you just need to run power from the drivers seat to the passenger seat. I just recovered my seats and do not want to do that again for a while. I accually purchased a set of seats off ebay as my seats were shot. I recovered them and they look good.

I think these seats are just a little too ugly to directly swap in without recovering; the vinyl has a couple splits and tears in the seating surface.
I'll have to see when I get them home... (car is in shop; seats are in friend's garage) nate

Even if you do not have a passenger power seat right now, the wiring loom and connector are still under the carpet for them.

That's good to know. Any idea how much heavier the power seat is, or "not enough to worry about?"
I just like the idea of adjustability, although the girlie says she'd have to sit in the car again to express an opinion as to whether she really wants the power passenger seat in there. nate (doesn't sit in the passenger seat of my own car; I'm a very bad passenger.)

They are significantly more. Not a exact comparison, but my manual cloth script passnger side seat was a little less than 35lbs, i replaced it with a 4-way power leather sport seat and it weighs 55lbs. I would say the regular power seats are in the area of 45-50lbs.
Ill be ditching the sport seats soon (actually just putting them into storage) and getting Recaro buckets.. thats about 60-70lbs ill be knocking off the car!
