951 Stutters on power!
Hello all. New to the BB. Nice content. I have a questionregasrding the 951 non-S. Twice now, and only recently, when I've hit the rev limiter and the ignition cuts out the car continues to stutter as if the limiter is still active but at lower revs like between 4000 and 5000. I was near home so I shut her down. Later when I drove her again no problems. I was doing about 110 in 4th just about to shift up to 5th when it originally happened. (I don't always drive like this but there was an open highway, no other cars and no cops around).

Anybody else ever have this issue?

You're hitting overboost protection, do you have any mods and how well has the car been serviced?

No mods that I know of. I'm the third owner and I take good care of it. I'm not on that tight a budget with it. I have a thick file of records on the car from the previous owners.

I do most minor service work myself like the timing/balance shaft belts my self. I just had the exhaust cross over (crossunder really) pipe replace as the old one had too many cracks to weld! That leaked for a few months before I had the time to part with the car for a few days. Just rebuilt the starter last month. I'm about to replace the clutch slave this weekend. Replaced the PS pump a few months back and the brake mastera few months before that. The AC needs a new dryer and a recharge which was supposed to be done with the exhaust work but the shop forgot to order the parts and I wanted to drive my beast! Next time. It's starting to get cold out anyway.

It has 163,000 miles on the odometer now and I've been thinking of selling her and replacing her with a newer/lower miles car but what is a 163K miles car worth? $7-8000.00? Not worth selling at that price. The car is very well kept. Most people at club meets can't believe the miles on the clock. I take good care of her.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't trying to pester you but actually get something to diagnose from. With the recent work replacing the x-over pipe, the wastegate was moved around a bit or possibly removed. I bet that the signal line to the wastegate has been disturbed. Confirm there is a hose going to the wastegate; that it hasn't had a hole burnt into the side of it from rubbing on the C02 test tube, x-over pipe, or even on the clutch bellhousing. If it's hard and brittle you can just replace it with some new hose from an auto parts store. Just insure to route it safely.

Didn't feel pestered at all. Thanks for the info. I'll check it out this weekend when I'm doing the clutch slave. Thanks again.
