Changing 931 FI and Ignition to something MODERN

Has anybody ever removed the CIS and ECU ignition from an '82 931 and replaced it with a modern system? I've corresponded with SDS and they say that they have done a few. Anyone know anything about it? The changeover can't be that bad. Remove the old bits and fabricate a fuel rail, use 951 injectors and FI pumps. Need to make adapters to fit the 931 head with the 951 injectors. Am I dreaming? It must be way harder than this.

931 has same number of teeth as 944, in fact 944 ring gear supercedes the 931. I think SDS uses magnetic pickup. Stuff is tight up front of crankshaft, but maybe they can be mounted on the back of flywheel.

The 951 injectors are kind of a mid resistance and most of the aftermarket injection controllers either use a high resistance or low resistance.

What year 931 do you have? The later ones have a digital ignition & the CIS is more tunable than other stock injections.

You're right about the SDS. It's a Hall-Effect sensor with a magnet fixed to the crank pulley.

I have an '82 931 with CIS. Never runs right. Used to start up with no fuss. Turn the key and rangreat. Sat one winter then the problems started. Very difficult to start at times and then never settles dow to idle .
