Question Power loss especially in 2nd gear and up??

Hey guys! I noticed while playing in my 86 Turbo 44 that lately I dont have that "turbo pull" like I used to?? I found a puncture hole in the input side of the turbo intake tube...could this cause these symptoms?? I am confident that the turbo is ok but at high boost it still pulls hard but peaks at a certain point that is way less than before!
What gives? Thanks....

Hi Brock replace any and all pressue and vacuum hoses that are questionable it sounds like you losing pressure, while boosting, also look for loose clamps, and loose vacuum lines look at the waste gate pressure line this goes from the lil valve under the rear of the intake manifold to the waste gate.....keep us posted .........Stan

Brock, I looked at KGross' FAQs, I will cut and paste what he says:

Quote from KGross:

"8.7 I'm experiencing a random power loss in my Turbo, what's up?
This appears to be a common problem, especially on the 89 Turbos. The normal boost is 1.2 bar. If everything is operational, it will go to slightly above 1.8 bar. The most common problem is a bad connection due to corrosion on the throttle position switch (located on the throttle body, forward of the intake manifold). On one side is a cable that controls the throttle opening, and the other side is a black plastic device that reads the throttle position. The connection to this device can become corroded. Typically moving around the connector a bit will fix the problem temporarily. Disassembling the connector, cleaning and putting on a coat of dielectric grease on it will fix it semi-permanently."

Try doin' that...i may not have experience with turbos, but it sounds like a good idea to me...

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info guys! I found a hole in the inlet hose to the turbo! Could this be it? I am going to get a used one for $60 with S/H. Good price? The car pulls great but right at 4k rpm it feels like brakes are put on! Below this rpm it runs great! ?????
I will try the hose 1st...thanks again!
