Post Brake Issues.

I just replaced my rotors and pads with OEM rotors and Axis Metal Masters pads. I took her out for a drive today and noticed that the brakes didn't have the bite that I expected. Is this because the rotors need to be broken in? I haven't really tryed any hard braking yet because I want the rotors to break in correctly. Will my problem correct itself??? Thanks.

I know new rotors have some kind of coating on them (to prevent rusting on the shelf) I don't know if this would be the problem or not. Did you bleed the brke lines? Replace the brake fluid?

I use brake cleaner to clean the thin film of oil off the new rotors after you install them on the car, then finish installing the pads and calipers. According to the Porsche owners manual you should expect longer stopping distances with new pads. The braking performance should get better as you break them in.

Take it easy on the brakes for the first 500-1000 miles to allow the pads and the rotors to get broken in. After that, you can brake like normal and you should notice better braking performance. Did you do the fronts, the rears, or all of them? The fronts do a lot more work than the rears, so if you only did the rears then you may not notice it as much.

MetalMasters need a little heat in them before they work best. That first stop or 2 on a cold morning can be fun

Break 'em in, make sure they're warmed up before you "need" them. Their performance should be vastly improved over what you're experiencing now.

Give them some time to break in. Brake pads never work that well when you first mount them. They will improve.
