Angry Is this fair? (Regards sale of car)

About a month ago, I had the chance to buy a 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo. I remember telling Obin about this, but that's beside the point.

Anyways, the car was purchased before my appointed time to test drive it.

The same car (identified by VIN number) is up for sale again. This time for $10K.

It was by no means a clunker when sold for $5500, and it is by no means in excellent shape now. Nothing has been done.

Is this fair? I offered him $6K flat.

Hey, if he had the cash to buy it, then all is fair. And if he thinks it is worth more than he bought it for (without doing anything to it), then he is just trying to be smart and make some quick cash on his investment.

Do you really like it that much that you would pay $500 more for it???

Ahh well. Stink. I just think that since the car was sold for so cheap what with it's radiator problem, repainting, and what not, $6000 would be a fair offer.

He just told me that he would sell it for at least blue book value. I've offered 7K. Approximate value for the car is 7.5.

Reasonable?

It has 150,000 miles. It has been in a little incident where there was some damage to the radiator.

the roof was repainted.

Sorry to be so blunt, but you'd be foolish to purchase that car. I wouldn't give more than $4k for a 951 with that mileage and a prior 'incident.' Like many have said before, be patient! You won't regret waiting a little longer and paying far less for a vastly better car. Besides, searching for the right car is fun...I looked for over a year before finding the right 89 turbo that I was certain I wanted to buy. Hah, and just before I went to purchase it, I found a perfect 968 for $11k, so I bought that instead! Don't be hasty...good things come to those who wait. -Trevor
