TURBO OR NOT?

I am soon going to buy a porsche 944, one of my dream cars...anyway, i hear you all talking about waiting for a turbo, but are they that much better? The insurance is going to hurt if I were to get one, i am only 16, and was wondering turbo or not?

bass drum is white because i am refinishing the toms to natural birch wood finish

I have been much more satisfied with these babies then my unreliable snap job 924.

I like DW drums myself...but very very pricey$$$$$. My friend has a DW set that cost him $2500 just for the drums, not including any hardware. I had a crappy pearl export set that got left in my friends basement and was eventually flooded with 4' of water, so I had to get rid of it. I don't have anywhere to keep drums, so I no longer have a kit and don't play much anymore, but I can still jam it out when necessary.

The formula that my insurance agent quoted was-- 16 yr male + Porsche (any model) = MEGA PREMIUM. Go ahead kid, make my paycheck. If you really want one, the turbo is a real blast. The problem I see for you is your age, just get one ticket and find out the meaning of expensive.

Not sure about other companies, but when I bought my 86 turbo, Prudential charged me the exact same amount as my 84 na: $348 per year for 300k liability/property damage, no collision/comp, pleasure use only. I asked them if they got it right and they said their tables show no distinction between 944 na and turbo.

At 16, I'm sure yours will be alot more, but call your insurance company to see if they make a distinction between turbo or no, then decide.

I've got full coverage, liability, comp, collision etc, for $240/six months. It costs the same as my 96 Dodge Ram pickem up. There are advantages to being an "old" guy with no tickets. If you are going to get a 944 of some stripe, and the ins is the same either way, get the turbo. One ride in a well tuned one, and you're hooked.

yes, i have gotten a quote on a 944 n/a, this is just for liability and they said about 1600. they also said that, i shouldn't go with a turbo, as that would raise the price. so, i guess i will go with the n/a

Honestly, not much money. I just turned 16 and have to wait untill I am 16 1/2 to get my lisence in Kentucky, so we are about to buy two and fix 1 up, I figured that in a few months i will get a steady job. i think that my parents will pay for the cars, but i will have to pay for insurance, gas, etc... right now i've got about 2000 dollars, and am working for 9.50 an hour with my dad's company.

Does ect. include fixing up? because if you buy something crappy for like 2500 or so you will have to spend probably close to 5000 fixing it up. Unless ofcourse you are doing all this with your dad, in which case it would be cheeper. I think you should buy ONE 944 for about 5000, you can find something decent for that money. What i am looking for right now.....i've seen a couple for 5 that aren't bad, some may need some body work and things like that, nothing major but i'd rather have a dent in it than engine problems

When it comes to insurance, you really got to do your shopping. There are so many insurance companies out there it's ridiculous. I would recommend getting out the phone book, looking under "insurance", and calling as many as you can. It won't hurt to call. If you do get some good quotes, talk to your parents about the reliability of the company. Have you heard of the company before? Have you heard good/bad things about the company? Don't get discouraged by hearing "Yur gonna get a Porsh? There's no way you'll be able to afford that ha ha!" every five seconds. Don't even deal with the companies that don't take your inquiry seriously. If they treat you like "some stupid kid" instead of a serious customer, just tell them you'll take your business to someone who will take you seriously and hang up.

the problem with insurance is, i'm 16, and most companies won't insure me because I am so young, so I will have to go under one of my parents names. there are 2 we are looking at, one, the guy is asking 1000 for, and it had an electrical fire, and wont run, the other, hit a guard rail and has body problems for about 2000. so we were going to buy both and fix up the one for 2000, yes my dad was going to help me, my grandpa is very good restoring and fixing up cars and my uncle owns his own body shop, so i got conections

Well lets see, I'm 16. (Way into 16 actually, But..) I had a 84 944 in just about perfect condition. Our insurance is through sate-farm and me down as a occasional driver with everything under my dad's name (never any tickets or accidents) and mine ran about a little over $450.00 every six months for liability only.

Reseach a little more, some of you are getting jipped , BAD!

FYI-

I just got my insurance bill in the mail today:

3 Cars (2000 Audi (sym19), 2000 Mazda(sym15), 1986 951(sym18))
I am 30, married and own my house.
No tickets for me or my wife and no accidents. (knock on wood)

$500 Ded on comp and collision on the porsche.

$358 every 6 months on the 951

Maybe this helps, maybe not.
