hi all, just put new pads on recently and should have worn in by now, but brakes have screeched since day one. They aren't glazed or anything. What could it be and how could i tell. There has been no degrading of brake performance, and sumtimes can hear brakes squealing when brakes not applied. Pse note, has only started since changed pads which are factory spec. Could they b warped or is it just me (warped, lol)?

brakes "screeched"? did you put anti-squealing compound on the backs of the pads before you put them in the calipers?

Obin, the "924 master" is on the ball with his suggested fix. The most probable resason for the noise is the lack of anti-squeal pads or goo on the back of the pads. You can get some generic stuff at most auto parts stores or you can get some very nice inserts from pelican.
Here is the 411 on the pelican stuff Anti-Squeal Pad Inserts Brake squeal got you down? Try these inserts between your pad and your caliper. The pad inserts should help to dampen the brake pads when you begin to brake, thus reducing vibrations that cause squealing. Anti-Squeal Pad Inserts, Set of four BR-AS-004 $8.30 Anti-Squeal Pad Inserts, Set of eight BR-AS-008 $13.70 [This message has been edited by p0r2chby (edited 07-03-2001).] |
