Thumbs up electric window tip

the passenger window control from the drivers door stopped working. Actually, it got slow for a few days and then stopped.

This weekend I pulled the switches from the door panel (just popped out) and pulled the switches from the contacts. I sprayed with contact cleaner and let it sit for a few minutes and it works like new...

What year car? They make two sizes. The larger of the two has to be reassembled correctly for them to work.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

On a related note:

As long as I've had my 1985/1, the passenger side window would not operate from the driver's side switch. The passenger side has gone intermittant, so when I had the passenger door panel off to fix the door handle, I swapped a window switch from my parts car. Not only does the passenger switch work now, the original switch on the driver's door works too!

Somehow, the two passenger switches must work together. Here I had always assumed that the driver's side switch was bad. Works fine now.

The spring loaded ends on the two contacts are where the problems occure. Getting them bent and in contact with the switch together can be a PITA.
