Turbo Tranny options - traction issues
Well...... now that I have my vitesse kit installed..........
I am running 13-14 psi on it as a daily driver and I can't stop lighting up the wheels. My car does not have lsd so I am having some serious traction problems. If I turn the boost up a couple of notches the wheels want to break loose in 3rd with no problems. In my last autocross I set my boost to 10 psi and that seemed to keep me from lighting up the wheels too badly .... So a guy I know managed to find a 944 Turbo Cup tranny with LSD and this thing seems pretty solid..... I have been hunting for one but can't find one. What other options do I have? I have the regular tranny with external cooler. What can I do? I really want to turn the boost up and keep that power on the ground..... stock lsd tranny, quaife..... ![]()

I didn't mind the back end kicking out every once in a while..... the novelty wears out..... but having it in second slamming the gas and shifting to third and slamming the gas and having the car pull like a bat outta hell is very addicting....
![]() but I am starting to feel like one of those Japanese drifting drivers I want a solid tranny that can take a lickin!

Well if you don't want to (or can't) find a tranny w/LSD, a stiffer front sway bar would help you put the power down more effectively, especially in higher gears.
PS: I've been looking for a deal on an LSD transaxle for a while, but they seem to be relatively hard to come by. Ahmet

Mine has the LSD transaxle, traction is pretty good other than in first. The car lifts real even on the front and you can really feel the rear squat down. Of course its still stock, probably be a different story by spring!!!

1000 seems to be the going rate for a used lsd tranny..... I guess I'll keep my eyes open.

Have you guys emailed all the usual suspects like PAP Parts, EASY, Parts Heaven, Auto Bahn, etc. I'd just run through the adds in ecellence for used part shops and ask for a price quote. I know AutoBahn in San Diego has a turbo back end as he was hinting to get me to take it. Although the used stock LSD are fine, I hear the Quaiffe unit is well worth the money, especially for AX and DEs.

lousailor...
The stock lsds for the turbo seem to pop up on ebay and other classifieds every month or two.... so its my fall back plan.... I was hoping to find a turbo lsd from a cup car or my second choice would of been a rebuilt one from someones race car........ I have read mixed reviews on quaife diffs in our trannys.... but I still havent ruled it out. If someone can sell me on its reliability and strength in our trannies it may be the way to go for me ??..... If I can't find what I want I will probably settle for a stock lsd tranny. Winter is setting in so I have a good 6-8 months to find the tranny I need..... just in time for next spring. ![]()

I am trying to find one of "Speedy's" posts on his V8 he had installed an aftermarket LSD, and I wonder if that route is cheaper?
