Stalling and Starting problem
Well, I got my new baby and everything was fine untill... DUM DUM DUMMMM. Im sitting at a red light and the thing just stalls. Im like ...ok so i try to start it. Doesnt start. Turns over a couple times. No start. Try it again. No start. I wait 30 seconds. Try and start it and it goes WTF?. It seems to only happen at idle when the clutch is in or when im in N. And the car ALWAYS starts but after about 30-60 seconds of waiting. The idle seems a lil rough sometimes. It has happened to me 3 times. 1 when i was parked 2 when i was on the highway (traffic) 3 when i was at a stop light. Also when i normally start the car sometimes it turns over turns over *kerchunk* turns over and starts. It does it sometimes. It sounds like something hitting something else but i really dont know what. It scares me.

Back from what?

The future? What are you talking about?
|
This:
"Well, I got my new baby and everything was fine untill..." |
I just bought it.
|
"Idle speed adjustment is not normally required on 944s. However, the idle speed adjusting screw will sometimes back out causing idle speed to become out of adjustment. The 944S and S2 models use a system called "adaptive idle speed volumetric efficiency regulation" and do not require idle speed adjustment."
So I should check the screw out first? If this is not it what should I check out next? Grounds? DME? Vaccum leaks? |
Also i read the knocking on start could be from the motor mounts but they were changed only 28k ago? Whats the deal wit hthe knock knock when i start it up.
|
I just replaced the DME relay because ...i found a brand new one in my glove box, go figure! I love finding things when u first buy a car. I will have to drive the car around for a while to see whats up.
I cleaned up the contacts in the cap and rotor but my wires look shot. I pulled one out and out came a huge thing of dust. My wires look pretty damn old. Could I put my old wires from my other car into this one because the ones in my 85 are A LOT newer then these ones? |
Follow up: Ok i read a bunch and i have found that the fuel pressure regulator is most definetly the problem. I will replace it soon.

How did you figure it is the FPR? The stock BERU plug wires can be refurbished by just replacing the wires. That is as long as the end connectors have not corroded inside. $35 for replacement wires beats $150 for a complete set. |
FR, how many plants would u say that u smoke a day? Jk anyways i was talking to a guy with the same year s2 who had the EXACT problem line by line as me. He had replaced all the other things and finally he did the FPR and the car was fine.
Can i put my fpr from my 85.5 into my s2 or are they different? |
