Post Bush bearings ??? HELP

Hi - got my new tyres but noticed that I can "move" the front wheel up and down also left and right a few mm (about 6mm). Could this be a sign for bush bearings - need to know soon..... so i can get the parts and get the job done. Is front left and the car is a 924 / 1982 but got the carrera gt kit - hence another question - I believe the original 924 had 4 bolts - mine got 5 and Fuhs alloys - would the part still be the same ?????

Thanks in advance

Frank..

sounds like it's time to do the wheel bearings. You should do both sides as the other side is of the same vintage. I would do them soon as you would not want to intruduce a bad wear pattern on the tires.

Regarding the 5-lug hubs for a 924 GT. I am not personally familiar with the setup but I suspect the disk and bearings are the same from a 944 car. The 944 cars have the 5-lug pattern. I doubt mother-p would have made a special disk set for just the replicas cars so a 944 fix is the most likley choice.

Question? Does your car have the cast alum. front control arms or the stamped steal units

There was a suspension upgrade for the 931s that had disks all around and different spindles, etc. You could tell at a glance because they had 5 lug wheels. I bet that is what he has and it may not be the same as the 944s.

As to Franky's wheel slop, it should be easy enough to tell if it is the bearings or balljoints and bushings. Just look at where the flex is. And pop the dust cap off and see how much the trust washer will move with a screwdriver pry. He should probably repack the bearings anyway.
