I've seen several posts recently, here and in some other Porsche forums asking about how to get more power out of (usually 8 valve) 944 engines.
Surely one of the "easiest" ways to get more power out of a North American spec 944, is to upgrade the engine to European spec, by raising the compression ratio. This would then boost the hp from 147 to 163. So then, how easy/expensive is this to do? And more to the point... how do you do this? -MAS |

high compression pistons and a competent engine management system-i think that is the way to go... i have polished the head and new valves and crank, balanced the rods, and im buying pistons this week hopefully. a few different ratios are available, the us sourced ones different than the euro spec.you can buy the proper one$$ at the por$che dealer(hint$$hint) thats all i can say about it at the moment cause its hard to get them right now. if i do get them ill let you know how ,where, and how much, and what exactly is needed to control them.
