So uhh.... errr.... how can I put this..?

What is your basis for comparison that tell you the Nitto NT-450s are so good?

I don't want to upset you but seriously they are probably the most dangerous tires I have ever driven on that were ot economy car tires.

Hmmmn...My friends have nittos and they are supposedly great tires they have no complaints..I had pretty expensive Dunlops on before and they nearly sent me into a ditch....I think the dulops were z rated p8000s? These just grip a hell of a lot better....They are cheap tires as the khumo's are but Im kinda on a budget...any suggestions for a decent tire on a budget...? And I am weel aware nitto make some pretty sh$tty tires but these were performance tires and honestly havent heard any complaints...They have stuck every time I needed them to...comments welcome....

Let me guess, your friends that have them are using them on Civics?!?!? Seriously, the only cars I have ever seen them on are rice burners, they think they are good because their cars have such some limits. For a good tire, look into the Toyo Proxes, either the FZ4 or T1-S's.

Wear excellently and have great grip are usually exclusive of each other. What's wrong with the Dunlop 8000? I have no problem with them.

Thumbs down

And as a reminder Im openly asking for opinions...not insults or lets say mockery...I own a 944 thats sits below me every night and that I work on every chance I get...I dont sit around reading import magazines looking at how fast supercharged civics are ect...Im mearly asking if anyone has a similiar set up and openly inviting CONSTRUCTIVE criticism......and in all honestly...there are civics that will tear the crap out of a 944 or a 951...but as we all know...THEY HAVE no style or dignity....thats my two cents...tell me how to correct my current set up...and constructively guide me in the proper direction...thanks in advance-chris 944NA

Dude, I wasn't trying to bash you at all, and I did give you some ideas on tires.

you need to match the spring rate in the back to whatever you put on the front. also, if you don't have them, a set of koni's or the like would do wonders for the handling of your car, as would uprated sway bars. also if the eibachs are shorter you will need to lower the rear or you will throw off the weight balance of the car. a set of koni's with heigth adjustable perches and rear coilovers or bigger torsion bars and a corner balance along with bigger sway bars would be ideal. I am not familiar with the eibach brand or the nitto's.

Speaking of rear coil-overs, has anyone made this conversion on their car and if so how much did it cost and how hard was the conversion? I'm thinking it can't be much harder than swapping out the stock torsion bars for thicker ones....plus getting the ride height should be a heck of a lot easier.

Yeah thanks...The rear of the car is already race lowered and the eibachs up front are 250lb springs....the car is level unlike most 944's that sit higher considerably in the back...Im thinkin bout a set of toyos when these babies die....I can even though he doesnt like to admit handle as well if not better than the Vr4...I have a real hard time gettin the rear to slide..the front starts to step out some times....

The porblem with the Nittos is the same as the SP8000 wet traction is shall we say, non-existant.

Tell me what tires sizes you are running and I'll give you a tire list.

Nothing wrong with the Eibachs so longs as you've been realigned and lowered in the rear.

The tire that I've grown to love is the Bridgestone Potenza RE 940. The 940 has only once slipped on me (though, I did have my brakes locked up, so I won't count that one). Even though I'm almost down to 0 tread, they still hug 90 degree turns at 120. They've lasted 19,000 miles for me and my hard driving, and they were on the car when I got them for about 5,000. Excellent wear, incredible dry handling performance, never had too much problem in the rain (though I don't push my car on wet roads, I have noticed a slight tendency lately for the car to hydroplane since I have no tread left). You should consider a set your next go round.

Pick up the most recent copy of "Grassroots Motorsport" magazine: they have a 944 project car that they just put rear coil-overs and new shock setup. Pretty detailed information there.

Regarding wet traction: compared to my '91 MR2, my 944S2 (with Dunlop SP8000's) handles WAY WAY better! However, the MR2 did have a tendency to snap oversteer, especially in wet stuff (Don't ask: it wasn't fun. But nothing got hurt: car or driver )

Hope that helps,
-Z.

i installed a set of the koni rear coilovers from paragon a couple weeks ago. they are @ $2k retail. it is alot easier to remove the torsion bars and install the coil-overs than it is to re-index the torsion bars.
