I never knew this valet thing existed, sounds like a good idea!

ilikemy944 11-07-2003 08:56 AM

So thats why it was so slow when I was trying to get away :(

AaronM 11-07-2003 09:16 AM

How much do these chips go for again?

What a sweet anti-theft device. Where is the switch located for selecting valet/drive mode?

ds475 11-07-2003 11:14 AM

i thought you said there was a permanent price change to 150 for the PROM's? but your site says 200...

The above discussion is for the early 944 only.

Hmm. Didn't the early 944 chips also work for the 924S? Or have I been away too long and forgotten too much?

That's a cool idea. But I didn't see a price for it anywhere on the site....

The dual adapter board is $125 and it comes with the stock 944 code. You can have the 'valet' or 'dead' as the second option. 'Dead' works best and can be linked to an alarm. The popular second option is to upgrade to the Power PROM which is why the valet option is not well known.

AaronM, the 924S uses the late DME and chips. I can make a similar adapter to add valet to the late DMEs but it is not one of the listed items on my web site.

Verruckt, the standard instalation is to put the switch on the DME itself. The early DME is located by the drivers knees and is easily reached. For security applications, it is connected to an unused DME cable pin. You can then hide the switch anywhere on the car.

Is it possible to do the Power Prom and Valet? Removing the "standard" programming? My state doesn't do smog checks.

Nice. You'll be hearing from me in the Spring. Adding more power just before winter isn't something I'm inclined to do, better to get used to it in dry conditions without lots of snow. Plus there are some trips to visit people that are being planned right now and I need to focus the money on visiting a certain blonde in California instead of on my car. ;) (Blasphemy, I know.)

Wow, forgot you were in LA. She's not that far from ya (La Mirada). Goes to Biola. And I'm gonna be there in March. May have to make a side-trip...http://www.pitt.edu/~acm7/fedora.gif

Just under 20 miles from city center to city center according to Expedia. I drive farther than that to get to a mall.

And I have never seen a male use those little floating marshmallow things before...http://www.pitt.edu/~acm7/fedora.gif

LA city. Yea, I heard of that. I don't go there often because it is about a 30 mile drive in the other direction. FYI. LA measures 75 by 85 miles.

The floaties are suppose to represent me kissing on your girlfriend while we wait for you plane to arrive. You will probably be identified as a terrorist by an anonymous phone call and arrested to death.

75 by 85 miles?! Friggin heck! That's far too big for a country boy like me.

Couple things wrong with that second paragraph. First, not a girlfriend. Yet. Second, good luck getting a kiss. Biola's a Bible college. (Me, I'm a corrupting influence.)
