944 shifter boot replacement

what is the best way to go? One piece unit or older way? (not sure what's entailed in installing)http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate.../mvc-494e1.jpg

go with the stock boot its hard to put on but it will go on. it takes a little stretching(leave the boot in the warm sun to loosen it up maybe)the shifter pattern button is a tight fit(and unavailable new as far as i could find out). i shaved a little material off the leather to get it in. patience is the key.good luck!

I replaced mine and what a pain. Next time it needs it, I'm going with the one piece.

yeah, the stock boot really is a pain. one part on the "neck" is really tight, i had to put some dishwashing liquid on the metal part, then pull on it for about 2 hrs. had to use pliers after it was ALMOST on, then a rubber hammer to get the round peice back in.

Looks good though.

Car looks better with the lights fixed ....LOL

I changed the boot on mine...it was tight but a couple of pliers with plastic grips .......20 minutes.....uhmmmmm but I also workout about 5 times a week....so it may have been easier pulling on...... LOL

I also re-dyed the steering wheel....and it looks great......pull it off and take it to a leather place ...they will recondition...and redye the leather and seal it for about 50 US.......and it matched the new leather boot.....

I bought the one piece from Pelican and it was a breeze to put in. Took 20 minutes.
