I used to keep the 944 at low revs all the time, never going beyond 4 grand. I felt as if it didn't have it in it to go beyond. One day went up to 6 and was surprised how smooth it felt in the higher revs. Not to mention the sound. I take it up into the fun territory every now and then, and the engine still runs good, if not better.

A word of caution-
The car will use more oil at high RPMs. On my old 944S2, I could drive for several weeks on the street and not lose a drop of oil. After a 30 minute track session, it would be time to add 1/2 a quart. This is normal, so check your oil every time you get back to the pits. |
If i didīnt check my oil everyday,i should starve it in 100 miles...

DS,
on Porsches, They are ment to be driven. However some peoples definition of driven are different to others ! To get the best especially of you drive fast you need to get the rev's to the limit not forgetting to drive the car within its and your limits AND SAFELY IF your car is properly maintained and serviced. It is checked before each and every "hard driving session" IF you are driving it to the limits, the relevant parts are upgraded or up to the job (and to Porsche Specs) Then there is no problem. The Rev limiter will protect your car from any no brainers. However the harder you drive a car the more wear you induce. BEar in mind people who race cars on the indy circuit, race traksx & tracks days. usually do a lot of work before and after a race. A total strip down/oil change after a race is standard sometimes. bear that in mind Road Driving "does not equate to" fast road/track/racing |
