Unhappy OH NO! Clutch pedal sticks

Hi

My clutch pedal has started to stick to the floor or stop halfway on its way up. Slave cylinder? Where does the clutch system get it fluid, is it the same resv.as the brakes?

Slave cylinder, check that. Clutch master cylinder, which is a ***** to replace, check that and yes, the clutch master is supplied by the brake fluid resivior. My clutch master died so while I was at it I also changed out the slave. Look for brake fluid leaking around these components. My master was actualy leaking under the dash above the pedals. Not going to rule out other clutch problems, but it sounds like hydrualics related to the clutch.

Do a quick search, this topic was talked about last week. Some good information there.

I had the problem last week, I bought a new master cylinder, but the problem went away today, well i think it did??? but i will replace it anyways b/c it was really bad when i was driving and the clutch dropped half way the almost 1/4 to the floor and I could shift. There was no leaks anywhere for me so it had to be an internal leak in the master cylinder.

I had the same problem today. I was my clutch master cylinder. I had it replaced this afternoon... now everything's OK.

Another symptom can be fluid leakage down the back of the clutch pedal.

I had the exact same problem on my 85.5 944 NA. Replaced the brake master cylinder and thought the problem was solved. Two days later I was leaking brake fluid on driver's side floorboard. Had to replace the clutch master cylinder as well. Problem solved. Some things to watch out for. The clutch fluid hose (the blue one) can develop a break easily so be careful. You'll have to cut the clip and replace with a standard screw hose clamp. The brake lines are a pain in the a** to align so be prepared for some time. Remove the diagnostics hookup (Brass looking circle with rubber boot) to give yourself some more room. Also get the power bleeder to save yourself some time bleeding the brakes (especially if you don't have any help). I would suggest purging the whole system to get some fresh break fluid in there. Mine looked like coke. Watch your level in the power bleeder though. If you don't have enough in, you will end up sucking air into the lines and have to start over. Hope this helps.
