Post high beams kaput

high beams are not functioning..86 944..at first I thought..ok sure probably a relay but I don't find one in the relay box or in the schematic in the manual.. fuses area all good..then I thought loose connector on dimmer block where it connects to switch.. but turn signals work ok..when i push stalk for high beams headlights go out when I pull back to flash nothing ..also when I pull to flash that should flash the fog lights,nothing... is there a relay somewhere that I am missing or are the switches fairly prone to failure

I would start on the steering column switch. PITA but that is the likely place given your description.

You aren't missing anything with respect to the wiring - there are no high or low beam headlight relays ... sort of hard to believe. Consequently, a lot of current goes through the switch contacts so having it fail is not unusual. Especially after 15 years.

Its been a long time since this happened to me but it was simply that the headlight burnt out on high. Low worked fine but when you switched to high it would go dead. Seems odd that both lights would do the same thing but I'd check headlights first.
