Post Clunk when turning left

Just the other day I started noticing a slight clunk when I turn left. Typically I hear it when the left turn is long enough to have some weight transfer take place. It doesn't clunk on lane changes, but on the curvy road I take home from work, it will clunk even at moderate speeds. I'm going into the shop soon anyway, and I like to be able to talk with the mechanic with some knowledge on the subject.

Better check your ball joints sounds like you have one going out.

look under your car and make sure the sway bar bushing isn't completely gone, this happens sometimes and it's extremely cheap to fix

Cool

Hey, check your sway bar bushings for sure! Mine did the same thing....they tend to wear out especially if you have an oil leak or p. steering leak...the oil deteriorates the rubber! pelican has bushings for $21 each...
good luck

I had a brutal clunking noise....last year when turning left.....the dealer checked everything........front end, engine, exhaust.....and finally I took it to a friend of mine that works at this tiny muffler and brake shop......a mechanic working there took it for a run.............and he came back and said......the mount on your transmission is gone........

It was the freakest thing.....it only happened on turning left and when it was turning left for long stretches......

anyways.....it may not be this.....but I got to tell you it stumped everyone who rode the car.....

I had this problem last year, checked the ball joints, sway bar bushing, mounts and even changed sway bar. It turned out to be the caster block, as I got another control arm that had the block, changed it and it no longer clunked. The block was starting to tear.

Found the problem.

Check this out. It was the right front swaybar bushing and...

the mounting backet that clamps onto that bushing was loose because the threads on the nut inside the box frame are stripped. Both of them. I've had my car at a number of different mechanics. I can just see some bonehead with an air driver, clamping it down way too tight. My mechanic is talking about boring a hole in the box frame and tack welding new nuts in there. I've been thinking that drilling it out and tapping in threads for a slightly bigger bolt. What'd y'all think?
