OT somewhat....Free Scale use!

Cool!! I just found a truck scale nearby that is free to use for weighing your vehicle. Just pull up and a digital read out displays the total weight and drive off. I feel stupid that I haven't considered this before knowing that trucks need to check weight at times and that one could use it also!
What means of weighing your car(s) have you been using? Sman

Wow...Why didn't I think of that! It HAS to be much simpler than biuying 4 cheap Wal Mart scales and 'synchronizing' positions and driving up on em...

Man, I feel like an idiot!

Why would you want to find out the weight of the car? The extra weight of upgrades?

I have used the scale at the grain elevator near my house. One problem is it only reads in 20 lbs increments.

hmm ... call me naive, but you can't just drive up to your average truck scale and weigh your car can you? Or less can you and more should you? Hell, I'd like to drive up to the nearest truck weighing station and weigh my 944, if just for kicks. Anyone know bout how much your ave. 944 weighs? (Nonturbo)

_ You are right, only 924 owners are allowed onto truck scales. j/k

_ I have heard of people doing this, but have never seen an open, empty scale around when I have the time to swing through.

In Iowa truck stops are a dime a dozen and many have scales but are not DOT certified so the accuracy may suffer but ones that are certified work well enough to get a close weigh in read out.
As far as permission goes one just has to ask. But the scale I refer to is free to drive up on anytime. This one is digital and will give you down to the pound. Sman
