Talking 1984 944 clutch job

The car is in superb mechanical condition but I have to do the clutch thingy on the 1984 and was wondering if there is a recommended source for parts, etc. I've already come to the conclusion that I do NOT want to do this work myself.

Anyone out there with recent cost info on the replacement??? Give me a short while and I'll be able to tell you what it will cost, but just doing a little homework in advance.

regards, P

$1500 - $2500 not cheap. (depends where you live and how naive you look)

Myself and a couple of other 944 friends here in Nashville will be glad to help, if you decide to do it your self. If you decide to get it done, I would recommend P and A. They have done some work for some other folks, and they made them very happy.

Hi guys, first of all, I don't look like the 944 owner who just jumped off the last watermelon truck rolling into Nashville with one headlight and 4 different tire sizes, ha ha.

Actually I will have the work done at P&A. I agree they are a good shop, and have done all of the work I can't do myself. I was just trying to get educated to the point where I don't pass out when I get the invoice, and to potentially learn something.

regards, P

I have the receipt from the 83 euro that I'm fixing to part out, for a clutch job a couple of years back at P and A. The clutch pack was about 600.00. He had several other things done. The bill will probley be about 1600. It is not hard at all to do, just very time consuming.

My 87 clutch is OK, but a little rubbery. I noticed, from a parts search, that it is rubber-centered and that the replacement would be spring-centered. Does anyone have experience with what the improvement of the later one over the former is? For $600 in parts I won't be doing it pre-emptively unless there is a very large improvement. Thanks!
