Real racing is when I get to do it, instead of watching.

I agree with Dantilla. But i happen to like the Austrailian V8 supercar series. Real midsize sedans with massive V8's, 6 spd. on tight road courses. Alot like what trans-am used to be.

easy... Le Mans |
Hmmm. Le Mans. It looks better on the screen. I went a couple of times and found it to be kind of boring after a few hours. Roundy roundy they go. Mind you, they have plenty of other things to do when you need a break. France is the only place I know where they will entertain a rifle range where you shoot over the heads of spectators milling around. They stick loads of balloons high up in surrounding trees and you take pot shots with .22 rifles. Good fun - irresponsible but fun.

mmm ... guess I should have said Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. Nothin like the shootin, but you cannot beat the pit area access you can get. We got some really good seating (with the BMW club) on the first turn/chicane and across from the jumbotron. A ferrari or panoz ever seemed to spin out right there :) ... and sadly even a porsche loses control from time to time :(
edit: lol... look what time i posted (unintentional). some things are just meant to be. (9:44 EST - my time) |

and i agree with dark skies that it should be about the driver but in that same veign i think external iunfluences should be avoided. for example in WRC when you go/if you happen to pop a tire/driving conditions plays a bigger part in winning than the actual driving. same thing in le mans. they spend so much time changing drivers and making repairs etc that its more about the cars than the drivers. i like the superbike races the best. 25 laps of neck and neck high stakes racing through turns. very exciting. privateers can do well also. |
I agree with the british with bad teeth.
That race is the most dangerous in the world, end. To be honest I wish I wanted to race my bike more than my car. it's so much cheaper. Isn't that track known for it's crashes? Oh yeah, I like bike racing more because of the $$$$$$$ factor, so it's not so much who you know, but how you go. |

Why is it called stock car racing if there is nothing stock on the cars? I prefer racing that uses real world components on real world cars. Racing that all of us can benifit from. If I want an all out racing suspension I can have it. Try that on your grandpa's Ford Taurus. |
that logic falls a little short for me, I wouldn't want to race my grandpa's Taurus
|
I think shifter karts are about as close to real racing as you get. I'm partial to all open wheel racing though, CART, all Formulas, Irl is a bit dangerous but still fun.
|
y'know, I never could understand this "real" racing argument. if it's not real racing, then what is it? fake racing? drivers piloting their hologram cars remotely from their living rooms?
as far as I am concerned, all racing is real. one might disagree with the rules but that's all open to interpretation |

Frankly, I'd love to see real-world Taurus' and Monte Carlos mixing it up on the high banks. That would be a real hoot!
