Ok, here's the scenario....new starter AND solenoid. Car will not start when hot. Starter doesn't even make an effort to crank. Could this be a voltage issue or a bad fuel pump relay???? i have posted this before and had no help, need urgent feedback please..

Hey man...This sucks...the thing is that if the fuel pump relay or one of your crank sensors went bad than your starter would still crank. Do this...short the starter to the battery and see if the starter/solenoid work like they should...if they do I'd bet that your ignition switch ***t itself...this is fairly common in our cars and makes sense when the car is hot...if its shorting it gets hot= resistance goes up= car doesn't start. If your electrically competent you can isolate down to either the ignition switch or the primary ignition relay...my bet anyway..

"Car will not start when hot. Starter doesn't even make an effort to crank." You mean the engine is hot or the car gets hot because of sun at parking lot? Is there any dash light on when you turn the key on?
I used to have same kind of problem. After parking under the sun, inside got very hot. I had to turn my key back and forth a few times. Then the starter would get engaged and crank the engine. My mechanic friend helped me to change a core in the ignition switch. The core is a plastic plug that wires plug onto the ignition switch. My old one had a little crack on it. I think you can order the core from any foreign auto parts store. It doesn’t look like a very expensive part. I don't know exactly where he got from. Hope it will help. Eugene |

Check battery terminals and clean if need be.

When my starter went out, the first one I bought wouldn't work. After another extra day of waiting, the 2nd one would spin but wouldn't mesh with the flywheel. After another day of waiting, the 3rd one worked. By the way, all 3 were rebuilt starters.

When they put this rebuilt one in my car, I had no problems for about 3 months. Then all of a sudden the car wouldn't start all over again...it's very frustrating and embarrassing when your Porsche won't fire.
Any more suggestions or cures??? ![]() ------------------ Porsche. Es gibt keinen Ersatz. |
