repair help
I have an 86 944 NA, my mechanic said that my intercooler is bad? I looked into it and intercooler and heat exchanger are synonyms of sorts and there is a heat exchanger on my car. does anyone know if this is a $1000+ job like my mechanic claims?

I don't think that any NA has an intercooler. Does he possibly mean the oil cooler?

...Not sure what a shop would charge...
But you can pick up a used oil cooler....and put it in , in half a day. If they get you a factory new part....it will get pricey ...very fast...the labor on this should not be any more than 2-3 hours....all they have to do...is loosen the exhaust headers...and remove the power steering pump, that gives you enough access...to get at the oil cooler...but still its a tight fit.
