Question Tail light seal/gasket

I have just repainted my 1984 - 944. The tail lights had a black stickly puddy like sealant used as a gasket around each tail light lens. Can anyone tell me what this sealant is called , a part number, or where I can obtain some of this sealant material.

Thank you

Paul

I got some sealant from a Porsche body shop for the rear lights. The manufacturers are called Wurth and the part number is 890-100-032. It came on a roll, was black and about 12mm diameter.

Did you seperate the lens from the housing, or did you take the whole assemly out. If you did, just use black silicone.

It is my understanding that the black ribbon gasket sold specifically for this purpose is 'non-hardening' thus allowing one to more easily remove the lens later should further repairs be required.

Is black silicone also a non-hardening sealer?
