Post 951 Died - Masters I again need help

Pre problem- car seems a little harder to start for the last week or so. small surges when cold goes away in less than a mile.

The Problem- Got into the car started it it died imediatly. Started it again everything seemed ok. Drove down the street about a mile or so stoped at a light, and it gurgled for a second and died.

Had to tow it home myself after AAA refused to tow it becuse it's too low ?

what I've done so far
It's got spark - pulled a plug and saw that, pulled out the gas lead into the fuel regulator and got gas out there.
The car was very low on gas but I do not belive it was out though I could be wrong I put a gallon and a half into it. It turns over but dons't even cough like it might catch.

Anyone ?

Matt
I'm going to change out the dme relay tommrow but I dont think thats it

possibly aux air valve..

try running some fuel injector cleaner thru your ride too. it might have carbon build up.

i got to agree with weldin.. if you have spark then you have to believe it's in the fuel delivery..see if you can force feed it.if it starts or sputers by dumpin some gas thru the carb.i'll bet you it will..then you can check fuel system components,ie.filter,pump,etc...good luck

[QUOTE]Originally posted by lordgrommit Hi Matt replace the fuel level fuse #34, check IE take apart these relaysG2,G5. the G5 relay is the DME, anyway remove the covers and see if the contacts are clean use some 600 grit to clean them, put dielectric grease on all the fuses and relays check the DME box under the carpet, for wetness IE is the battery box leaking?
Also I would suggest that you put the grease on all of the engine DME connections,
make shure your getting a solid spark while cranking, if still no joy then I would replace the engine sensors, the ones on the left back side of the engine...... Lets us know what happens.........Stan

I checked the 34 relay it passed the in car test. I swaped the g4 relay with another and there was no change. I'm off to get a dme relay I could pull it apart but having a spare inst such a bad idea.

Matt

This is my favorite "crying time" scenario, replaced this , replaced that and still the same symtom. You folks out there should know that a reptutable shop will charge the mechanic on a mis-diagnosis.

Do the basics, spark at ALL cylinders and fuel, compression, air and timing are up to specs.

Only on start up would it be something related to start up (Hey mideast!) but since it died on you, I'd be more concerned. Ever seen a melted piston? Don't want to scare you but **** happens. Hana hou (once more) Neal

pull out the dme relay and jump terminals 30 and 87b together with a piece of wire. Listen for the fuel pump running. thats step #1

I am reading with much interest. My 924S has recently developed the bad habbit of engine suddenly going "off line". Runs great otherwise. The DME relay test and fuel pump test are on my troubleshooting list. Thanks.
As a further note. One suggestion I got: if it quits with low gas in fuel tank the fuel pump is suspect. I note the above problem occured with low fuel. Doesn't seem to apply in my case, however.
