I have 15 gallons of 110 Octane gas in the garage. Will my computer be able to figure out the right fuel air mixture? This fuel is very "light" as in it will run lean in an engine jetted for 93 pump gas. whaddya think?

Don't use 110 octain fuel. It is leaded and will ruin your Oxigen sensor and catalitic converter. It is against the law for street use. Unocal 76 has a 100 octain racing fuel that is unleaded and can be used in engines up to 14/1 compression ratio. Is also epa aprroved for street use.

go for it! I did my last 1/4 mile run on 91 octane..ugh..that's pretty much all we get around here now. I'm sure that 110 would make a big difference for a heavily boosted application. As for an N/A 944, it won't make any difference as you probably already know.

Bad juju. I doubt the DME was designed to handle trying to cope with something that potent. It MIGHT turn your car into a rocket, but thaen again it might meet you with tragic results. Why take the chance?

Unless I've been misinformed over my life, gasoline is gasoline and it all weighs 6 lbs per gallon. Octane rating won't determine how rich or lean a mixture you've got, just how slowly the fuel burns i.e., higher octane burns slower.
The 100 octane low lead I burn in my plane and the 87 octane Avgas that the older planes bune e.g., Piper Cub, both weigh 6 lbs/gal. I see guys from the racetrack up the road at the airport all the time getting the 100ll for their cars. Anyway, the DME has no clue as to what the octane is and doesn't need to. IMO, 110 will burn fine, but will be zero benefit even on a turbo, unless you're upping boost way over stock. Actually, you'll get slightly worse gas mileage with higher octane because it releases slightly lower amounts of energy. Doesn't affect power if used in high-output engines since they can't run on any lower without detonation, but a low compression na engine will get less power and mileage out of high octane. |

never had a problem running 116's on my 86 951 and i am shooting NOS...by the way it was all stock except for chip and higher boost..i don't suggest that you do this but this worked for me without any problems...been to the track 3 times with the car and seen 2 to 3 runs everytime i go...

There was a thread a while back at the RealRide Message Board (http://www.RealRide.com) about using 110 Unleaded fuel on a 951.
Several of the Race Car Engineers agreed that it would make no difference in performance, just your pocketbook. |

If you're 951 has serious mods 110 will make a BIG difference because it resists knock much more than 91 or 92 octane. From first hand experience i can tell you that if you can run one of these cars over 20 psi with no knock you will be FLYIN - I will guarntee you that. Its really a simple issue and this is why racers use high-ocatane fuel - to prevent knock. The real challenge, at least out here in So Cal, is getting a 951 to run right on the 91 octane squirrel pee. Most will tell you no more than 15 psi on this stuff.
