Odometer/Dash lights.....
 

I had an odometer that for some reason rolled to halfway between 117,000 and 217,000 I went in today to try and fix it and brighten up the dash lights... Funny thing, when the Odometer is rightside up, you cant move the nubmers by turning the little wheels up top, but when it is upside down, I was able to move any and all, Anyone wanna buy a 951, only 32,000 miles.... HA! Seriously though, I know that a lot of you may have this prob, I was suprised as to how easy is was to fix. As far as the Dash lights go I will change the bulbs, but you can see how the light makes its way to the cluster throught some optical elements. They are plastic and painted on the outside so that the light refracts along the inside. Some of the paint is coming off and letting the light out. I am going to try to repaint it with some of that chrome paint, Ill let ya know how it turns out.

Alright, let me tell you, putting that cluster back in without removing the steering wheel is a B!TCH. I get it in, hook up the connectors, its brighter, but not as bright as I hoped. I had simply painted over some of the holes in the old reflective material.

This time I took some brake cleaner and removed all the old paint, polished the elements with plastic polish, cleaned em and am now going to spray them once i mask off everything else. Stay tuned.

The paint was not a good idea, i tried some on some spare plastic lying around the garage, and it is chromey on the side you see, but the side that faces the plastic was not reflective at all. I tried Aluminum foil, and Ill be dammed, Its brighter than it ever has been, pay attention to the leading edge (big one) that reflects up into the cluster, make that as smooth as possible and it will work great.

i found some reflective foil tape at home depot in the heater/ac section. peel and stick. and do the area around the bulbs after you dissassemble it a little more. a sharp razor might take off the old reflective paint or mek does.

I used brake parts cleaner, It removes everything. It can even clean the chicken off of Euro's Fiance's chin.
