Question ???Rough Start???

Tell me if any of you guys have ever expierenced this. In the mornings, whenever I start my '83 944 it turns on without a hitch. However, when I try starting my car after it sat in the sun all day it struggles to turn on. I live in Riverside, Ca and it can get pretty warm during the day (100+) but I thought it was supposed to be the other way around.

its a faulty check valve in your fuel pump.. time for a new pump..

when your car is sitting after being hot, air gets let into the lines of the fuel pump. so when you start, instead of getting gas, you are gettin air.

Wink

hey shaun,

if it's a faulty check valve, can't i just replace the valve and not the whole pump. $15 compared to $215.

thanks.

The check valve is INSIDE the fuel pump. The fuel pump is not made to be dissasembled. I doubt very much if you could get the check valve by itself.

But if you do find a check valve repair kit, let us know

i just had a hot start problem and fixed it by taking off the ground strap, cleaning the mount for it on the firewall and reinstalling. i also used a Massive Overkill groundstrap. wont work for everyone but a cheap place to start. fuel filter is worth looking at also, anything that wwould prevent fuel from reaching injectors.

Hey mike944,

I found that pelican is selling a check valve for 15 dollars. Are they reffering to a different valve? Follow the link.

I have no idea whether this is the same valve. Call someone at pelican and ask them.
