Post Painting Calipers - What color - opinions please?

....So the last few pieces of my conversion of the NA brakes to the turbo brakes are almost in.....

...the brembo brakes I have are painted black with the silver lettering......

(I have included a pic of my car for reference)

1. What color should I paint them...do you think red .....or keep them black? or maybe even silver with black lettering???

2. What paint do you guys recommend to use?

Thanks in advance....

Alex

Hey there, I just painted mine red last week. I think that would be sporty on your ride. Especailly since you have 5 stars. Have fun!

I saw the price of the kit at Performance Products to paint the calipers....

Here's a cheaper idea:

Go by a can of high heat engine paint. I got a red paint that is used for Engine blocks and the paint is holding up really good. I think I'm gonna change the color to yellow. Burgundy and yellow would look tight

Keep it stock. Subtle and classy, a lot like your 944's color.

Mine are red. I used high-temp barbeque paint. I was surprised to find it in bright red. Who'd paint a barbeque bright red?

I agree that the stock brembo calipers look quite good (I wouldn't even bother putting turbo brakes on my NA, but that's just me)...

If I had that car, I'd probably strip my calipers (stock, single piston), clean them up, then probably spray them black.

red on a silver car will look great but then again, so will the original black. Me, I'd go red.

I'm just glad you are doing this with some big brakes vs the stock NA pucks. When I see the little brakes painted, I think to myself, wow, thats a nice set of "Little Red's"

The NA brakes are more than plenty for a 944 NA... As for the size goes, aren't the 944 front rotors larger than the regular turbo's?

The brake pedal on my Prelude Si (it had good pads/fluid) used to go to the floor, with the calipers smoking, and red hot under hard use. Same happened with many other cars, including a BMW 325, my numerous vws, etc. Not with the Porsche, the brakes are good, and with good pads/fluid, there's (IMO) absulutely no need to change them. Well, it could save you unsprung weight...

uhmmmm....I was due for a brake job....came across these black calipers....at a good price.....

Got the crossdrilled rotors, picked up the front hubs.......and now just waiting for the front spindles to arrive..

I probably would have kept my stock calipers......they are excellent brakes...... but after getting the new wheels....you really see the caliper and the rotor........and hence where I am today....

As far as I can see....The vote totals are..

Red: 6
Black: 3
Yellow/Burgundy: 1

NOw...the wife says....red would make it look ricey....I laughed....so I showed her a Twin-turbo with Red calipers......with her sexy voice...she says "Now ...you know...you don't have a twin turbo".....the voice of reason!!!! She says it would look classy in Black with the Porsche letters grinded ....

So she says her vote counts for at least 2... so for blacks its upto 5! and 6 for red.

Now....I am going to see if I can find Red Barbecue paint!!! is that available in Guards Red Barbecue....
