Knock Sensor???
Is there a easy way to tell if my 1987 Porsche 924S has a knock sensor. I heard that some have 2 of them and others have 1. Was there a a specific year for the knock sensors. Also how far can the computer retard the timming 2, 4, 6, degrees??? Thanx

That is for the turbos and the 944S. The 944S, dual over head cams, has two and a hall sensor on the cam gear for figuring out which cylinder is predetonating -- knocking. Same with the 968's. Consider your self lucky.

so the 924S has no knock sensors?
|
Correct, the 924S has no knock sensors.
Seem to recall reading that the 944S can retard up to 12 - 15 degrees. Dme is supposed to detect a knock, retard that cylinder a few degrees then listen again. No knock - start advancing timing again, if knock continues, retard and repeat cycle. AFJuvat |
Dam I was kinda hoping that it had one. See I didnt want to add a timming controler when I install the nitrous kit. Right now I have a zex nitrous kit on my 2000 toyota tacoma and it made it alot easier because it has knock sensors so it will automaticly retard the timming. I think a 75hp shot is like a 4 degree retard in timming. But anyway back to the drawing board

The turbo has one. Don't know how it integrates into the electronics.

I want to Nitrous my 944.
(off the road due to blown tranny) Just wondering how those two statements can be in one post. |
It's only money. Some have more. The rest of us a lot less.
