justin, your one lucky guy! I wish I had AC. Is the freeze 12 for newer cars like the 94' and up?

I used a refrigerent called Enviro-Safe in my 86 951. Even when the outside air is 110+ I still get air out the vents at 40 degrees. Enviro-Safe is compatable with both R12 and R134A and their respictive oils. There is a web site for the stuff but I don't have the url handy. Just do a search with yahoo and you should find it.
Stay cool, Threesticks.

r12 is the old freon that is no longer made and is expensive, r134a is the newer freon, personally i think r12 works better

Threesticks: I'm interested...could you provide a little more info? Were you having A/C problems before converting? Any idea what the output temperature was prior? Did you have any other A/C related work done at the time you switched to Enviro-Safe. How much does it cost per can (12oz)? This sounds like a nice alternative to the somewhat lackluster R134a? Did you do it yourself or have a shop do it? Thanks, in advance for the additional info.

My A/C blows at 40deg with the 134A. I don't know what other issues people have had with it but it works as well if not better than my original R12 setup.

Walker944: In answer to your questions:
After I first got the car running, the PO had a small engine fire and I got the car for cheap, The air would have a discharge temp of 100 degrees with an ambient temp of 110 degrees. The suction side pressure was 10 p.s.i. and the pressure side was about 90 p.s.i. I get the Enviro-Safe from a friend who has a shop and he buys it by the case. He bought several casea a couple of years ago and can't remember how much he paid. The Enviro-Safe web site gives prices. I do work for him and he gives me parts and lets me use his wholesale.
After putting in one 6 oz. can of Enviro-Safe, at idle, the suction side pressure was 50 p.s.i. and the pressure side was about 220 p.s.i. At 2,000 rpm the pressures where 30 psi and 200 psi with discharge temp of 60 degrees at the center register with an ambient temp of 105 degrees.
I then found that the heater valve wasn't closing. Upon further investigation I found that it wasn't getting any vacuum. I traced the problem to the small vacuum line that attaches to the firewall on the engine side. The line had cracked, most likely from the heat from the fire. I replaced most of the rubber and plastic under the hood except for that small piece of vacuum line since it had looked good upon inspection.
Now that the heater valve and all of the mixing doors are working properly, on Friday while driving home with an ambient temp of 105 the discharge temp was 40 degrees. This was on the freeway at about 60 mph. In traffic it does tend to warm up a bit but once moving it will cool right down. The owners manual addresses this short coming of the A/C system and says that the engine can be rev'd while the car is stopped at a light to keep the air cool.
I have used this refrigerent in several early 911s with sucess. Some where complete evacuation and fills and some were just adding a single can to top up a system. All of the customers have reported an improvement in their systems. If you know about early 911 A/C systems they are marginal at best.
I have used it for several years and haven't had any problems related to it.
This has been my experience with Enviro-safe and I hope that it can help you.
Threesticks
