Post Anyone out there with the 10 speaker option?

Hey guys! I'm currently doing a lot to my interior to try to bring it up to date, and the first thing that had to go was the stock speakers. I replaced the four 5x7's and was going to install an Infinity powered sub.

I was just wonding what the speaker setup on the 10 option was? And also was the quality just way better than the regular 4 speaker setup?

Thanks!

The 10 speaker stereo was standard in the '88 turbo S and became available across the entire 944 range in '89. I think.
I have the option in my NA. It consists of a small 1" tweeter high on the door above the window switches. There are two around 4" speaker in enclosures beneath the door armrests. The the back, two speakers are enclosed beneath each window. I've never had it open to see whats down there exactly.
Five speakers on both sides = 10 total.

The speakers are of my higher quality than the base stereos. No paper cones like in my turbo. Really good power from a Blaupunkt equalizer/amplifier mounted in the open console space of lesser optioned cars. Right below the head unit. My head unit is a Blaupunkt Reno.

Overall the sound quality is excellent. Atleast until the amp blew and all the power had to be routed from the head unit. Now it sucks. I never felt compelled to upgrade a thing until the amp blew and i couldn't find a replacement.

Took apart my front door a while back. All the speakers looked brand new. The speakers on my turbo pretty much fell apart in my hand, when i was playing with them.

This setup is more commonly found on the turbo S and S2's. I have the only NA 8v i've ever seen with it.

I have it. It's okay. Even though there are ten speakers, they are all relatively small so they don't put out low-frequency sounds very well at all. The tweeters make pretty good high-frequency sounds though. It probably was not worth the money ten years ago.
