Buying advice for later model 924S
I know the drivetrain is pure 944, is there anything model specific? I assume the regular 944 issues prevail, but any advice is welcome. I will be examining the car in a couple of days.

try to find a lightweight if you want a track car, no sunroof or any of the fancy power junk!

There are several differences versus the 944. I have both a 944T and a 924S. The 924S use early offset Steel A-Arms, but late offset wheels. No rear spacers on the rear wheels. 911 Seats, instead of 944 seats, etc. Lots of little things.

naparsei,
The ultimate slim body would be an '88 SE, but all the '88s have the higher compression motors, so you get HP equal to the 944 of the same time-frame. S-man you selling the beast?

I understand about the SE, the coil overs and m030 would be nice, the problem is really finding the car. I'm sure you know how many were made, but it wasn't a big number. Normally, I could sit back and wait to find exactly the right car, but various forces have conspired so that it would be better to have the car by mid-March. There is apparently 1 for sale for $7000 in autotrader, but I was hoping for a more moderate price (around $5000), if possible. Is the SE worth the extra $2500+ more from a regular 88 924S? It's obviously a judgment call, but $8K gets you into old 911 territory as well as 951 territory...

Hmmm,
I would check the NAPA Bluebook numbers. I think the car would have to be in pretty top shape to ask that much. You can get a really nice 944NA (87-89) and maybe even an S for that much.
