Finding TDC
 

OK, I've got the mark lined up in the hole above the distributor, but I'm flumoxed when it comes to double checking TDC with the flywheel. Everyone keeps referring to seeing "OT" through an inspection window at the top of the bell housing. Man... there's a lot of stuff on top o' there. Where do I need to look exactly? I'm not having success finding it myself.

I have looked at the inspection hole next to the starter, but I can't see a mark on what I think is the flywheel, and even if I could, there's no way I could "center it in the hole" given how obstructed my view is and the angle at which I'm looking at the hole.

Take the cover off of the bottom of the bell housing and turn the fly wheel with a large screw driver till you find the TDC mark. Clean it and rub caulk into it.

Put the cover back on and rotate the engine till you see that mark through the hole just above where the sensors are on the top of the
bell housing. Lean over the drivers side fender with a flash light.

The mark should line up with the finger that you can see through the hole.

Now check the mark on the cam pulley. Both should be visable and lined up. Remember the cam goes around once for each two turns of the engine. In other words you have a 50/50 chance of having both marks line up when the TDC mark is lined up.
