One possible solution: a dual-stage race:
1. Find a local 1/4 track, and see who wins. (This race favors the Camaro) 2. Find a local autocross, and race there too. (This race favors the Porsche) Just make sure that you both run each event at the same time/same location: that way the conditions are identical for the two cars. Fastest cumulative time wins. It's official and balanced! Just my $0.42 -Zoltan. ------------------ My_Toy |
tell him your car is a 12 cylinder.

What year's that guys Camaro again? Naturally the V6 Camaro is what? almost 4000 lb? we are just under 2700 lb. which means that you should kick his ass most likely after 60 if you didn't get the good jump off the line. The Camaro that raced me was on the freeway and I kept a 3-4 car length lead until about 100 mph when he started falling back. This was a later model Camaro. I'm not sure but it had the newstyle headlights, and that crappy V6 in it. Despite poor acceleration due to lengthened gears...if i could beat this guy then you should tear him up. Good luck Craig! Lemme know what happens!
and for Shaun, tell them that your car is a 7 speed http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/biggrin.gif http://eurospecporsche944.homestead.com/files/sig2.jpg ------------------ Porsche. Es gibt keinen Ersatz. |
I found out today. It's a '97

I'll tell you my experience with my stock NA 944 (not my 951). I was passed by a '94 Z-28 LT-1 at around 50mph thru some intersections. I fell in behind him as we started up a 1 mile uphill, not overly steep just a long and gradual incline. I pushed him all the way but could not pass him. We topped the incline at more way than 100, about 110 I think. He could not get away from me at all. If I had been in my 951 I would have just pulled out and passed and left him easily. My point I guess is a race like that the 944 should be at a 60 mph tromp and in 3 rd gear and would beat a v6 camaro easily. Hard to do that kind of racing on the highway though cause someone could get killed. Drag race I don't know. The NA 944 is slow off the line, low first gear and slow into 2nd.

I've raced a modified eclipse awd turbo into 3rd, and up until about topping 4th. It was close through 3rd, with him pulling as I was around 5k rpm or so, and into 4th he was clearly getting away from me. We happened to go to the same auto-x at VMP, where I promptly beat him http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/wink.gif
