951s interference or not???? Check this out!

I just read an interesting article in a mag called Grassroots Motorsports (Oct. 2001). The article features "affordable Porsches" and on pg. 40 in the second paragraph that starts with "on the plus side....." This says that the timing belt breaking will not destroy the valves due to the 951 having lower compression pistons and therefore not being able to collide with the pistons when the belt breaks....is this true?? I feel that it could be true because lower compression pistons could be convex shaped at the top allowing a gap between the valves and pistons....please feel free to comment because my car (86 951) has a cam cover or balance seal leak and it has been 38,000 since the belt change....I know it needs to be done but this will make me feel better if it is true!
PS GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Thanks guys!

My car is getting new belts on monday.

You could wait until the belt breaks, then report back to us so we know what to expect.

I think the forum has a member who already tried this on his 951. He was not very happy.
