I am currently preparing to change the timing belt on my car for the first time. I would appreciate any tips or links on this procedure.

Rent, borrow or buy the 9201 timing belt tension tool OR have it towed to somewhere that has the tool. Tension is critical for proper belt life, and since belt failure is usually very destructive, it's a big risk not to have it done properly.
I decided to take it somewhere. I changed the belts, and all the front end seals myself. But i decided not to buy the tool, so i took it to a Porsche mechanic He charged me 1 hour labor. $60.00 to tension it. for the 1800 mile re-tension, i had an alignment done at the same time, but he said the tensioning was only $40.00, because i was getting other work done at the same time.
