Don't forget the N2O injection.

Might consider water injection too.

Most of us have spare parts we can sell you after you blow up your engine.

Unfortunately.

Now we get to explain why it's better to buy a 951 (944 turbo) than try to turbo a Normally Aspired 944.

Then there is the "Car Will Not Start" thread where after twenty posts the owner finally checks the timing belt only to find it broken.

I am not going to get sucked into this thread... oops I already have... DOH!!

slyder,
Look at the prices of these things (superchargers), plus the engine rebuild to handle the HP increse, plus the transmission upgrade to handle the extra HP, oh and you will have to carry a few CV joints around because you will be blowing those out...
You will end up spending more than you paid for the car several tims over.

But it's your money, Good luck

so scott, is this the point where the comparison is made between that amount of money and the much lesser cost of a 951?

and don't forget...

trannies and R&Ps and clutches, oh my!

these guys know exactly what they are talking about. if i remember right and anyone can correct me, the 2.5 is strung out to its max tolerance wise. a supercharger or turbo is just going to damage the engine and give you headaches for the rest your ownership. if you have never driven a 944 they are an excellent car in the stock form with great performance. good luck with it.

yeah, I've probably seen 100 + turbo/supercharge threads here and I have only been on for like about a year and a half. So we should definately get some kind of sticky post that warns people to search first, or we should make a seperate thread now outlining why this is all such a terrible idea (turbocharging) and make it sticky. Its getting quite funny no one ever uses the search feature.

slyder, you may want to consider selling your na and purchasing a 944S2 if you wnt a more powerful car for autocross use and don't want the powerband characteristics of a turbo. The 944S2 has smooth, steady power throughout the rev range, and has the beefed-up suspension and brakes to handle the extra power.

Also, thank you for serving the country in Iraq and congrats on your safe return.

Yes- assuming you are in Iraq on military duty, you have my sincere thanks for putting yourself out there.

And as a driver of a 944 Turbo, I would also say that if AutoX is your goal, an S2 would be a better choice. But maybe a stock NA would be good too- it competes in a lower class. If you start modifying, you'll end up in a class where you have to spend a fortune just to be competitive.

The euro cars have more compression. Picks up a few more horses.

Guess you could do a little boost as long as you don't over do it. Where is that furnace blower I removed last year?
