It doesn't have to be show quality, just fresh. Any ideas...$800 / $1200 / $2000??

I paid about $3K for some semi-serious bodywork but no rust repair on a project car. I'm near DC for reference (price does vary by location) I took all the trim off the car before the job.

If you're willing to do a little work yourself, you can get a decent paint job for under $1000. My plan is to pay around $500-$800 for a Maaco job where I remove all the trim and make sure it gets the best prep they can manage.

I would say around $1500 for a good pro job (not maaco) where you do the prep yourself. however, please note that if your prep the surface/do the rust repairs etc yourself, that the paint shop will almost never warranty their work....since it's laying on a foundation of your work. Just FYI.

I was quoted about $3000 from my local Porsche restorer/body shop. This included REMOVING via sanding the terrible two-part partial repaint that the previous owner had applied after an accident. You can save alot of money if you are willing to disassemble the car yourself (all lights, washer jets, windows, bumpers, door handles, etc.)

I just had the front clip and roof (including sunroof) done for $350. I did the prep work myself and had the owner of a body shop do it on the weekend as a 'personal project'.
