This just in ... i'm getting the thing for $250... Last i checked that's less than a rolling chassis with plenty-o-parts. Plus he wants me to come get it, even if i cant pay for it all right now...
Something smells odd. My guess is he got a warning from his property-manager about having the car out for too long... Here in riverside if it's out in a lot or a street for a week or more and hasn't moved and isn't operational... can be towed away. Anyhow, it's even more of a deal now. Can't wait to get this one running. |
Really, for $250, its better than buying Playstation or 2 pairs of jeans! Get it, f*** with it, if you can't get it running, donate it. It's that simple. Whatever the outcome, its a cheap lesson in life.

Make sure you have a clear title. The shop owner has to do a lien on it.

This just in... i'm going to have the car brought home today!

I'll be sure to document, photograph and diologue everything i do to get this car running. Today it gets a wash, rims cleaned, rust treated and primed over, as well as a new spoiler and treatment to the rubber. I can't have this thing look like a POS while it's on the street. Suprisingly the car's paint was WELL maintainted, and there's only one scratch on the front-passenger's side panel that needs attention. I'm super hyper happy.:D |
pics pics piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiics !!!
congrats with the buy one word of advice , make sure the 924 doesn't see you pampering the other Porsches, i made that mistake with mine, and it makes me suffer now...now it behaves like Herbie, it runs when it wants to , keeps running when i don't want it to , and doesn't start running when it doesn't feel like doing so...currently , i'm thinking about getting a voodoo priest to sacrifice a chicken or two |
I'll have some pictures coming shortly :)
|
Are the tags current? Over six months and they tow the car.
|

As soon as i have the cash i'm getting a PNO and CA tag. That way i'm covered on all my registrar needs. |
what's a PNO tag?
|
Planned Non-Op, California License Tag/Plate.
AND!!! Pictures can be found here: http://abstract.ogsth.com/1978_924/ |
that cleaned up well, sounds like a fun project, good luck.

You might want to lose the stilleto sticker on the back. When you get it running, and it doesn't look too bad, those words sound very different when coming from an officers mouth when he has you pulled over. Good luck on your new project!

very nice! best of luck to you. interesting, the car made it all the way from WA to Cali

Hello Brando and those in this forum. I'm in Riverside and I've got a '77 924 I'm putting back together. If you need to take a look at anything while you're getting yours back together, let me know. Not sure how much difference there was between the two years but I do know if you take it apart, then wait six months, it sure is hard to put it back together again....
