Hey guys! Well I failed my emissions test today with high CO. State limit is 20 I blew a 40.30. So I need to get the CO down. I will replace the O2 sensor, and then I will also surely need to adjust the AFM. So, the service manual states that leaner is "Anticolockwise." Is standing in front of the car or looking from the passenger compartment? I guess I mean to ask, is it screw out for lean or screw in?

If the AFM screw was never messed with replacing the O2 sensor is probably all you have to do. The screw only changes the mixture at idle.
Screw in - richer Screw out - leaner How is the CAT? With a rich or slightly rich mixture there should be a little sulfer or rotten egg smell when the car is driven hard. Mark '86 944NA [This message has been edited by mlue (edited 09-28-2001).] |

Yes it has been messed with. The cover has been drilled. Any rule of thumb on how many turns is normal?

http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/Forum5/HTML/004383.html I had to adjust my screw because the PO had messed with it as well. It may not be perfect but its in the ball park. Mark '86 944NA |
