Cool fuel low lite on

where does yours come on, just below the 1/4 mark or on the "r".

My fuel guage only half-way works. When the tank is full it starts at the 1/2 mark, then it sort of works but then sits at empty for about 6 gallons. The light seems to work fine though. It comes on when there are about 1-2 gallons in the tank.

Mine comes on when the needle hits empty. Although the needle will travel a little past the empty line.

Should come on at the R mark.

If you have a "funky" gauge, remove the instrument cluster and clean the grounds on the back of the panel

thanks everyone.

my gage doesn't seem to be funky. at the 1/4 mark it'll take 11-12 gallons, 1/2, 8-8 1/2 gallons.

I brought mine down to R once just to see if the light worked. Mine came on at the R.

I really wouldn't recommend driving with the gas tank that low on a regular basis.

Mine comes on at the R mark. It took me a couple of years to realize that our cars even had a low fuel light.

i took my fuel level sending unit out, because my low fuel light was glitching and blinking erratically on and off all the time.

i found out one of the tiny ass wires (the copper one, which happens to be the low fuel light wire) was broken off at the little solder connection at the bottom... soldered it back and my gauge is now 100% accurate and the low fuel light works perfectly.

also, it runs out of gas much before the last few gallons are used... trust me, i know... but still, i can drive to work and back and to work again, and back again on the low fuel light... you have PLENTY of gas when that light is on...

Mine comes on about 2-3L past the R line.
And it usually takes 70-72L once the light comes on.
I always drive mine AT LEAST until the R line, because gas prices here change by the day, sometimes 10c/L daily, and I am always saying 'if I can go one more day, it'll be cheaper', but once the light comes on, I know I've pushed my luck enough.

i heard that there was a sensor back near the tank that can be cleaned off - and that this usually fixes the problem.

I've driven around 50 miles with my low fuel light on....of course that was when I pulled over to the side of the road and began cursing at myself for not filling it up! For some reason it just slipped my mind!!

I also never knew I had one until driving across the country from CT to CO two years ago....and to think for the 4 years prior I would sweat the gauge going past the last white line.....haha
